People who enjoy the wearing of a mental or steel watch strap may have experienced this: The strap would become unfit (usually looser) after a period of time’s wearing. It would be a rather puzzling problem for the ordinary people who would not have so much experience in fitting a watch, even a little piece of strap. For those who do not want to pay for the costly service of the professional to get a fitter size of the watch band, here provides a guide to you about removing the link from a watch strap.
Notice
Before the process begins, one thing to keep in mind is to have steady hands in the operation and be slow and careful.
Getting Prepared
To actually operate the refitting process, you need to prepare some simple tools. They include a pair of small needle like nose pliers and a small pointed instrument like a pushpin or a tiny screwdriver. In some cases, you even need a small hammer to tap the pins out. Anyway, use the tools that work the best for you and the handiest for you to get.
The Process
Firstly, put on your watch and measure the number of links that you no longer need. Make sure that you need some space that it won’t turn out too tight for your wrist. Then you could begin to remove the first link. You should start from the one near the buckle, and look for the tiny openings which hold the pins. When you spotted the pin, carefully push it out with the pointed tool that you’ve prepared beforehand. When the pin extrudes a little, you could use the pliers and pull it out. When this is done, you could use the same method to pull out the next pin and in this way the first link is removed. Repeat the process until you’ve removed the enough number of links. The next step you need to do is to close the band by press the pin back into place. Make sure the pin is entirely fitted in the band. After you’ve done that, the whole process is finished and you will have one nice fitting watch again.
With the above guide, do you feel like adjusting the watch band is just a piece of cake? Yes, we could do it ourselves.
